Delfina Sport partners with WPOTWF

Updated: Dec 24, 2018

Water Polo on the Waterfront (WPOTWF) is excited to announce its partnership with leading swimwear provider Delfina Sport.

Delfina has a strong relationship with water polo in New Zealand, providing high quality customised swimwear, caps and apparel to a several teams and clubs across Aotearoa for a number of years.

All teams who enter Water Polo on the Waterfront will receive a unique set of Delfina togs designed and inspired by the event, as well as a WPOTWF singlet.

Delfina founder and managing director Tyler Martin says the company offers a rare insight into ocean water polo events.

“Having worked extensively with four-time Olympian and founder of Water Polo by the Sea, Thomas Whalan, in both the Sydney and Portofino-based events, we feel Delfina can bring that experience to assist Water Polo on the Waterfront and help make it an awesome weekend for all involved.”

Water Polo on the Waterfront will be held from February 23-24 on the beautiful new Tauranga tidal stairs at The Strand.

“I think that New Zealand has some of the most amazing bays and harbours in the world,” says Martin.

“Events like this not only help grow the sport but also showcase the host venue in a unique perspective and can hopefully draw some attention.”

Event organiser Danny Kayes says the Delfina partnership is invaluable.

“We’re so stoked to have Delfina Sport on board with our inaugural event. Delfina’s a brand that is synonymous with water polo and it’s great to have them alongside Water Polo on the Waterfront.”

Delfina’s Martin played with Kayes’ brother Joe for Australia at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

“Knowing Danny and some other members of the organising committee, I know their passion and dedication to growing the sport in New Zealand and I really believe in what they are trying to achieve and wish to be a part of that not only this year, but for many years moving forward,” Martin said.
